Dr Pandit Gokulotsavji Maharaj is the most accomplished pre-eminent Indian classical vocalist of Khayal, Dhrupad, Prabandh Gayan and various Ancient Indian Musical Styles, of this generation. Panditji is the world famed musician whose rare genius has opened the ears and minds of millions to the wondrous aesthetics of the rich Indian musical tradition.
Dr Pandit Gokulotsavji Maharaj is honored with Padma Bhushan & Padma Shree by Government of India, Tansen National Award, D.Lit National award and twice with Presidents Gold Medal award, Hindustan Times Lifetime Achievement Award and many more.
Under the pen name of Madhurpiya Panditji has created more then 5000 compositions in Khyal, Dhrupad and Dhamar in Sanskrit, Persian, Urdu and Braj Bhasha, to mention a few. He has created a number of new ragas such as Adbhut Ranjani, Divyagandhar, Madhur Malhar Prasandpada, Sneh Gandhar Madhur Dhwani Kanhda. He conducts several creative projects for the revival of rare and old Samved Sanskrity.
Pandit Gokulotsavji Maharaj did great in-depth study-research research and analysis work on the discovery of hidden meaning and authority of the syllables used in Dhrupad Aalap and Tarana styles of singing.
He has given interpretations and hidden meanings of syllables nom, tom, dere, na, tadani, etc, of dhrupad alaap and Tarana , which were earlier considered to be meaningless, and he clearly states that these syllables derive their meaning, authority, creation, and existence from Vedic mantra beej-Akshara, the beej-Akshar which are widely used in innumerable hymns.
He has conveyed this message and research by innumerable interviews, talk shows, programs, lectures & demonstrations, programs, and workshops.
Acharya Gokulotsavji Maharaj has performed using SAMVEDA Gaayan (Samveda Sangeet), more than 85 SOMYAGYAs(ANCIENT INDIAN VEDIC RITUAL) in India and abroad.
He has performed the virat somyagya in London in 1995 and New York City in 2000.
In his week-long Virat Somyagya Mohotsav program,Mr. LM Singhvi, then High Commissioner for India in the United Kingdom visited the somyagya, took part in it, addressed the huge crows and took ashriwad - blessings from Acharya Gokulotsavji Maharaji.
